The Rest of Hawaii

As promised, this post will be about the rest of my time in Hawaii. It definitely took me a while to get this posted. And it's not even that I have no time, because I do... I just spend all my time sleeping though. HAHA. I've been so incredibly lazy. Bad Doug! Well, here's my last post on Hawaii -- WARNING: It's a long one!

So it's our last night in Waikiki and we wanted to have some fun. Zack and I, the gay boys, wanted to go to a gay bar. We had been to the straight bar and it really just wasn't all that exciting or fun for us (obviously) so we asked our group if we could try going to a gay bar. The others were very nice to agree to it. And it's probably because they didn't have that much fun at the straight bar either... It was just us standing there with drinks in hand doing nothing but yelling at each other because the music was so loud. So I did some research on my iPhone and found the Hula's Gay Bar located in the Waikiki Grand Hotel. It got some great reviews and N and her friends had heard of it before so we decided on that.

We got there and it was a smaller bar with just a small space for dancing, but it was good enough for us. We quickly went up to the bar and ordered ourselves a drink. I don't usually drink, but I figured I'm in Hawaii, in a gay bar, I might as well drink something to try and loosen up. So I ordered myself a Midori Sour. And the bartender must have just known by looking at me that I'm a lightweight because my drink had the perfect amount of alcohol for me. I still took some time to drink it, but after just drinking about half of it, I was already feeling it. I told you I'm a lightweight...

A blurry, no-flash shot of the bar and my friends. Thought it looked cool

So by then, Zack and I had moved out to the dance floor and we started tearing it up. Zack had his shirt open because it was HOT in there. Sweating so much. I was too. So I stripped to my wifebeater. And I was dancing a lot... I don't really like dancing when I'm at clubs.. I just feel awkward. I know I dance for a living... but I like choreographed dancing. I don't like club dancing.. because I suck at it. But the alcohol must've been doing its job and I was just going crazy.

After a bit of that, Zack disappeared, but my other friends were still with me, sitting down in front of me while I was just dancing by myself (those punks!) when suddenly this guy went up to Chris and started saying hello. He then asked if we were all gay, which threw Chris off since he's straight. And he kind of stammered a little bit before he could tell him that they were all straight, but I was gay. And then he says something like: "Oh good.. cuz I think you're really sexy." LOL. He clearly had a few drinks already because his speech was slightly slurred. But I let him keep going. He started talking to me.. introduced himself as Nathan. He's Puerto Rican and had lived in Colorado but now moved to Hawaii where he is going to school while working at Coach. I don't know how he got all that information out to me while drunk and how I heard all that witht he loud music blaring... He was really touchy feely.. he had his arms around me the whole time. And then my friends decided to leave me (not sure if they were trying to do me a favor or what...) so I was left alone with Nathan on the dance floor.

He led me over to the bench on the side and we sat down to talk a bit more. But pretty soon, he was kissing my shoulder. And I distinctly remember thinking "oh god.. he's kissing my shoulder.. what do I do now? Am I supposed to kiss his shoulder now?..." And while I was thinking all that, he moves on to my neck and then pretty soon he gets up and gets in front of me and then goes for my lips. Ok.. so I'm in Hawaii. And this is all harmless fun so I just go along with it and let my inhibitions go. BUT, this guy is just about THE WORST kisser on earth. THE WORST.

Imagine having a vacuum planted on your lips... that's what this was. Imagine a dog with its tongue slobbering all over your mouth... that's what this was. Blech... just thinking about it makes me want to gag a little. I don't push him off of me cuz I was still a bit shocked at how horrible this guy is. Maybe it was the alcohol and he just wasn't able to control his kissing? But man, it was sooo bad. He finally let up and he excused himself saying he'll be right back. And all I was thinking was... GET ME THE HELL OUT OF HERE!

So I walk around the club looking for my friends. Luckily the bar is small and I find Zack talking with a bunch of gays. And I just sit next to him and tell him about my situation. And I'm just sitting there trying to hide because I didn't want him to find me again and hoover my face. And then about 5 minutes later, I spot Erik and I call him over. The first thing he says to me is "What are you doing here? Nathan is looking everywhere for you." AHHH! Apparently, Nathan found my friends and started talking to them. So I told Erik to tell them to leave him! Erik goes over to N, who is having a full on conversation with Nathan about me. She's actually talking me up, telling him that I have a Masters degree and that I do P90X. HAHAHA. She was most obviously drunk too. So Erik goes up to here and pretends to dance with her and tells her: "ABORT MISSION! ABORT!" LOL. I laughed so hard when he told me this later.

Chris, N, and me while hiding from Nathan

So yes, a little immature to just hide from him... but I was slightly drunk and really didn't know what to do. HAHA. But we had a great time just hanging out with each other and just bouncing to the music. The Hula Gay Bar was a fun little place and was a great way to spend the last night in Waikiki together. So we finally decided to leave the bar... we walk out the bar and are about to head downstairs to the lobby when... guess who!!... Nathan is walking out of the bathroom and into the same hallway as us. We awkwardly say goodbye to each other as I run downstairs. OMG... we were laughing our heads off as we got down to the lobby. The security guard had to tell us to keep it down. HAHA... what a way to end the night. :P

The next day, we decided to drive to Diamond Head National Park and hike the trail up the mountain to the peak. It was our last activity in Waikiki and I'm glad we did it. The hike was harder than I had expected but it was good exercise. Sweating profusely of course.. but there was a nice breeze at the top and the view was absolutely amazing.

Looking back down at our trail

View of Waikiki from the peak of  Diamond Head

I had such an AMAZING time in Hawaii. Word really can't describe how much fun I had. The group of us really want to make this an annual thing. And I'm TOTALLY down for that idea because Hawaii is just absolutely beautiful. After coming back home from there, I actually researched some teaching jobs in Hawaii because I might actually want to live there! hehe. The culture is just amazing and the people are so nice. I HIGHLY recommend Hawaii to be your next vacation.. you won't regret it!

**OH yeah! Cheapoair.com emailed me a few days ago telling me that they had found my blog and read my posts about Hawaii. They're interested in me becoming a guest blogger on their blog and want me to write a 300-500 word guest post about my trip to Hawaii! How cool is that? I'm working on it now and hopefully you'll see it on their site soon! Be sure to check the site out because it's a great way to find travel deals!**

Adventures in Waikiki!

Waikiki was so gorgeous! So N's parents are the nicest, most generous people. Our original plan was to stay with N's family for 6 or our 7 nights in Hawaii and then stay in a hotel in Waikiki for 1 night just to experience being in the Waikiki area. Well, when we arrived in Hawaii we were told that N's parents had actually secured THREE nights at the Hale Koa Hotel on the shores of Waikiki! This MAY be because they didn't want us in the house for all 6 nights... but no matter the motivation, they paid for 3 night at a hotel for us! Soooo very cool.

 The Hale Koa Hotel
On our 1st full day in Waikiki we were yet again treated to another surprise. Our original plan was to have N's cousin, Eric, teach us how to surf. We had asked him two days earlier when we had dinner together, but he said he was unable to do it because of work. However he said he'd try to work something out with his friend that runs a surfing shop on the beach. Well, we found out that surfing lessons were going to be $45/person ... but Eric paid for ALL 4 of us!! (N didn't surf.. she stayed on the beach to tan. hehe)

Getting ready to hit the waves!

It was such a great time learning to surf. I really thought that I was going to have a harder time learning. And I'm not being cocky, but it was actually really easy. We had assistance, of course. The instructor would find the waves for us and give us a push to get us going. But getting on the board and staying on it was really easy. I guess being a dancer helps with the balance on the board. It was sooo fun. There were a few times when I had to just stop myself to take it all in and acknowledge that I was SURFING in freakin HAWAII! Oh so good!
We even got free pictures from the surfing shop!!
That night, I was not done being out on the beach so I proposed a late night walk along the shore. N and Erik were up for it, while Chris and Zack stayed in the hotel. I'm so glad that I went out there because the water was SO beautiful. The moonlight was shimmering in the water and looked so amazing! And I went out to feel the water... STILL WARM! Felt so nice to have the water on my feet. We were out there for almost an hour because it was so nice. My first time being at the beach at night. I live very close to the beach in California but the beaches here are COLD at night so I've never wanted to go. But so different in Hawaii!! Had such a great night.

N and me acting couple-y on the beach :)
N, Erik, and my shadows
So I'm saving the best post about Hawaii for last.. and it's coming up soon. It's about my time at the luau and the gay bar. I've been wanting to tell the story for a while -- I've been wanting to just tell all my friends but I'm afraid that I'd seem slutty if I went around blabbing it. HAHA. Intrigued yet??

Last Minute Vegas Trip!

This blog post is WAY overdue... but I did want to talk about it briefly. I have a few photos for show and tell. LOL. So this Vegas trip was for our friend Richard's 21st birthday! Apparently, Richard had invited Miles and he was supposed to tell me that I was invited too. This was like 2-3 weeks before the trip happened. But since Miles found out he couldn't make it, he just forgot about telling me about it. So a few days before the trip, I overheard Richard talking to another one of our friends about the trip and I was thinking, "Man, why didn't they invite me? Oh well...." And then, Richard turns to me and asks, "So how come you couldn't go?" I responded, "Oh... I didn't know about it." But YAY, I was invited! So I quickly got days off of work and packed my bags and off we went!

The trip was a whole bunch of us: Jeffrey, N, Sarah, Kevin, Michael, Richard, and his college friend Johnny. We drove in separate cars because we all couldn't fit in one. And having a Prius, I was nominated to drive. LOL. I wouldn't have it any other way though. I like driving. :) I feel like I'm in control. So along the I-15 Freeway, we decided that we wanted a little more excitement in our lives. So N rolled down the backseat windows of my car, and proceeded to pass Gummi Bears to Kevin in the lane next to us. Here is a snapshot of this amazing feat:

One of the most exciting car rides/drives to Vegas that I've ever had. :) We got to Vegas at around 1pm and we quickly checked in to our amazing 1000+ sq. feet suite at the Venetian. It was GIANT. And it had an awesome jacuzzi tub which we made good use of. After we played around with everything in the suite, we decided to go get drunk and headed out to Caesar's Palace for some Fat Tuesdays! It's basically a drink shop that serves yummy daiquiris! My favorite is the Bellini. I've blogged about it before in my last Vegas Trip post. YUMMY! The problem, though, was that I had not eaten anything. And I drank too fast. So this is what happened to me:

And there's Michael and Richard making fun of me. LOL. We had finally found some food to eat (Panda Express.. YUM!) but I was already feeling the effects of the alcohol. I just got all sleepy... I wasn't like super drunk. The food definitely helped soak up the alcohol and I was better in no time. We walked back to the Venetian and then had some fun at the pool.

There were actually some hot guys at the pool! Two of them to be exact. Amazing muscles and nice tans. Darker features. Tall. Handsome. Yum. They were swimming and playing around with, who I assume was their nephew, and I couldn't keep my eyes off of them. But then they left... too bad. But the group that I was with was eye candy enough though! I have some hot friends, I must say! We played around in the pool for a good hour. Our other friends (on their own trip) came over to visit. Here's a pic of me with Kelly (from my other Vegas trip) and N:

Oh.. and there's a random fat guy in the background of the picture. LOL. During this time, Kevin had apparently continued to drink and by the time we were leaving the pool, Kevin was completely passed out on one of the chairs. We had to practically carry him back upstairs. While Kevin was passed out, the rest of squeezed into the jacuzzi tub. Basically we were sitting around it with our feet in the water, haha, but it was still fun. We actually played, "I Have Never..." where we hold up our 10 fingers and we go around saying something we've never done before. If you HAVE done that thing, then you put a finger down. Of course, the game went from innocent to risque, with statements like, "I have never madeout with someone of the same sex." Sigh... well, we can all guess who put down all their fingers first. HAHA. The fun part of that was that two of the guys, Michael and Richard, proclaim to be "straight." So it was fun to see if they were secretive with putting their fingers down or not. Surprisingly, Michael was very upfront about a lot of it. Richard was a but more secretive. I was secretive too but people caught on.

Sidenote: I'm out to a lot of my friends now. Most everyone at work know that I'm gay, especially after I went to Gay Pride. It's nothing I hide anymore. I just don't yell it at the top of my lungs or overtly express that I'm gay. If people ask, then I will tell them.

But my friends were still surprised to see me put down fingers for certain things. Statements like, "I have never done anything sexual with more than one person," or "I have never used a dildo before" made my friends more than curious about me. However, I told them the game wasn't "20 questions" so I never elaborated on anything. HEHE. I can't tell my friends EVERYTHING about me!!

I won't bore you with more details of the day, but the rest of the night we went to Cheesecake Factory and celebrated Richard's birthday at midnight by singing him Happy Birthday really loud in public. HEHE. Fun times.

The next day, I went to the pool with Kevin bright and early (10am) to catch some rays. Definitely got darker. I LOVE a nice tan. Thank goodness I tan real easily! At around 11:30am, our other friends finally wake up and we get ready for another day of drinking!! We first head out to the Mirage Weekend Brunch Buffet. YUMMO! I ate sooooooo many crab legs. HAHA. I love buffets!! Then it was off to the Planet Hollywood for more Fat Tuesdays! This time, I drank EVEN faster. Got WAY drunker. LOL. So by the time I got home, I had a GIANT headache and needed water real bad.

I was fine after I drank that whole bottle of water. :) But I was still pretty inebriated. And all of us being drunk and zany, we decided to do a photo shoot with this thing called the "Circle Scarf" from American Apparel. We all found our own way of wearing the scarf (and barely anything else) and took pictures. Here was my best frame:

I really don't like it all that much, but I have gotten a bunch of comments from my friends about how muscular I look. YAY! I love getting comments about my growing muscles because it means my P90X program is working! I'm not posting my friends' pics, but I must say... I have some hot friends!! YUM! I want to lick them up and down so bad!! HAHAHA. I would never do that though, because they're my friends... but it's nice to fantasize about.

That night, we went to the Beatles Revolution Lounge @ the Mirage and had some fun dancing for a bit. It's not really a club, so the "dance floor" was quite small. Very crowded. But it was free, so we managed. But when drinks got spilled on my friends, we decided it was time to leave. But we did take some pictures of ourselves in the awesome sexy lighting before we left. Here I am trying to be sexy with my iPhone:

Did it work? Do I look sexy? HAHA. Don't answer that...
All in all, I had a GREAT time with my friends. Vegas just gets better every time. I ended up losing $25 on slots and that was it. I think I spent the LEAST on this trip but had the most fun. I love my friends!! Wouldn't have been the same without them!

Watching Ellen Live!

So I went to a taping of the Ellen show in Los Angeles today. Definitely had a fun time with Miles, Jon, and N. Jon got tickets to the show by checking the Ellen Show's website EVERY day. And when they had tickets available, he pounced on that. So THANKS Jon! Then a few days ago, we used our powers of deduction to find out who the guest will be on the day of our taping. We just figured it would be whoever is listed as the guest for the next day, when it airs on TV. And the guest.... Vanessa Hudgens... sigh. The un-talented star from High School Musical. We were less than thrilled. In fact, N and Miles absolutely HATE her. They had to work with her for a filming of the Walt Disney World Christmas Day Special that aired on ABC two years ago. And she was so incredibly UNPROFESSIONAL and made the filming last way longer than it needed to be. So since then, they've hated her.

But when we got there, we were pleasantly surprised and found out that her show had been previously taped! And our taping was for a future date. Our guest: Kevin Nealon, former SNL cast member and now star of Weeds on Showtime! :) He was a funny guest. Every time he told a joke, we clapped. And my hands started hurting from clapping too much. HAHA. We also got some free stuff.... An ADVIL care package (64 tablets of Advil), Weeds Season 3 DVDs, and a pair of nice in-ear headphones. :) The headphones are REALLY nice, super comfy, and have good sound quality. I'm too lazy right now to go check what brand they are... but I'm not really trying to do a commercial for them anyway.

There were some hot, good looking guys at the filming. Not too many. But a few to look/gawk at. There was one guys with really nice muscles and a hot butt. Wanted to sit near him, but they sat me about 8 rows behind him. Bummer. And then there was this other guy with his, presumably, girlfriend with muscles for days! He was huge! And he wasn't like the chubby muscles.. he was muscle muscles! YUM! Miles was drooling over him. HAHA.

Oh speaking of muscles... Hugh Jackman was the guest for Ellen on yesterday's program. We thought we had missed seeing him by one day, but it turns out his was taped a while ago too. But anyway, I think Hugh Jackman is so hot!

I watched "Wolverine" in the theaters over the weekend and I loved him in it. You know... it wasn't the best movie ever, but I thought it was entertaining. And Ryan Reynolds was way hot in it, so that was another plus.

But anyway, Miles doesn't think Hugh Jackman is hot.... I was shocked to hear him say that! How can he not think he's hot?! What's not hot about him? Good looks. Yummy muscles. Talented actor. Great singer. HOT Aussie accent. Miles is weird sometimes. We definitely have different tastes in men.. but I guess that's good cuz then we'll never fight over guys.

In sort of other news, I had to dress up for the taping of the Ellen show today and I was quite satisfied with how I looked in my outfit. I usually think that I look weird wearing a dress shirt and slacks. I just didn't seem to fit into them even though I was wearing my size. I dunno, hard to explain, but when I look in the mirror, I just felt like I didn't fill out the clothes. Well, today, I actually liked what I saw in the mirror. It MAY have something to do with the P90X exercise program and me gaining more muscles. And that makes me feel more confident about my body. Whatever it is, I liked it and I am happy about it. :)

New Years Party

So my last post made it sound like I was the one all drunk at the party - but it was quite the opposite. Actually, I was one of the only ones sober the whole night. I did have some champagne but I just drank my Martinelli's Sparkling Cider the rest of the night.

But my friends on the other... wow... some of them were drunk messes. Jeez. I got to ML's house at 11:30 or so. And right when I walk in, I already hear loud screaming and see people running around like crazies. LOL. Our friend Amy kept jumping up and down with her boobs half hanging out yelling my name. "Doug ____! Doug _____!!!" HAHA.

And then one point in the night, Amy took our other friend Neil's phone and so Neil started chasing her around the house. Well, they got to a corner and Neil ran smack into Kelly's face. Kelly got a bruise on the bridge of her nose and was in the bathroom examining it while Neil is still drunk and on the floor, yelling for his phone. Ridiculous! but super funny! LOL.

Other memorable moments:
  • Sang the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air song because it was on TV, but all wrong cuz most everyone was drunk
  • Saw the Hoveround commercial on TV and decided to crank call it and pretend to order one
  • Erected a human pyramid (see figure 1)
  • Jeff saw a bottle of White Zinfandel and decided that it was trashy to bring it to a party and poured it down the sink!! (what a bitch!!)
  • Compared penis sizes (through a tape measure. lol. didn't really whip it out!)
  • Miles gave a masterclass/seminar on how to give a great blowjob. I learned a few new things! hehe.
(Figure 1)

So I definitely had a good time! And it was one of my first New Year's parties with my friends. Actually, it might actually be my first. Every other time, I was home alone or with family. So yay!

Coming Out (Almost) #4, Halloween Update

Today, I almost came out to my good friend N (she has a very unique name so she's staying in initials). It almost got there, but then I chickened out for some reason... So to preface my story, today, Miles and I went to Beverly Hills to go shopping for new outfits to wear to go out on the town. We had planned to go to West Hollywood for some clubbing with Jon tomorrow night. So we wanted to look nice ;) Well, long story short, Jon hasn't been feeling well and isn't up for going out anymore. So we had to cancel.

I'm at work on my iPhone, texting Miles telling him about Jon. The iPhone makes a loud noise every time I send or receive a text. So N is sitting next to me when this happens. She asks me, "Who are you texting?" because I guess the sounds were catching her attention.

Me: Oh, it's Miles. We're just texting each other cuz we're mad at Jon for ditching us tomorrow.

N: What's going on tomorrow?

Me: Miles, Jon and I were supposed to go out together. But Jon's busy or sick or something.

N: Oh really? What were you guys going to do?

Me: We were going to go clubbing!

N: Clubbing? Where were you guys planning to go? WeHo?

Me: Haha (nervously). Yea.

And that was the end of the conversation. So you see, I could've easily just slipped it in at the end: "N, I'm gay." But something held me back from doing it. I know that N is one of my friends that I want to come out to next. I just need to do it and not chicken out. Guess I'll keep everyone posted on that.

In other news, remember those short shorts that I ordered for my Halloween costume? Well, I found out that they were back ordered and weren't going to be arriving in time!! So I contacted the shop immediately and asked them to just give me the next size up (which they had available). Luckily, they were able to make that change right away, and it looks like I'll be getting it by the beginning of next week! WHEW!

And then tonight, I decided to put on what I do have of my costume and do a little photo shoot to see if it's going to look ok and believable. So here's what it looks like.

I'm wearing boxers instead of my short shorts. They're the length that they would be, but the real ones will be a darker blue. I'm also going to have long tube socks and shoes on. Do you think I need to iron on some sort of school logo or anything on my white shirt? I'm just not sure people will understand P.E. Teacher from what I'm wearing. Let me know what you think!

The Wedding

So Saturday was the wedding. Here's the previous update on the wedding if you haven't read the drama. Our friends decided to just go and make the best out of the night and just go with the flow. A bunch of us got together at my apartment to get ready and have some wine before we left for the ceremony. Here we are all dressed up and ready to go

(left to right) Bethany, Miles (Milo), Katy, me, N

There I am second from the right with my white shirt, black tie, black coat, blank pants, and CHARCOAL grey vest. I must say I looked spiffy. And all my friends agreed. Made me feel a little better about myself.

And by the way, I'm just going to stop thinking of nicknames or aliases for my friends because they're not going to find my blog and it's too much of a hassle thinking of and remembering aliases for all the people I want to talk about. So unless their name is super unique, I won't be using initials or aliases anymore. Ok.. now back to the wedding.

Like I said, we had some wine, and then drove over to the Disneyland Hotel, where the ceremony was being held. And being the cheesy performers that we are, we decided to have a photo shoot as we walked down the parking lot.

Aren't we the biggest nerds ever? We gotta work on our modeling skills, even though it does look like Miles is definitely ready for catalog already. We walk into the waiting area and we immediately start looking at what everyone is wearing. TUX MY ASS! Not one person was wearing a tux or anything resembling a tux. Not even the fathers. They were all wearing their nice suits and a nice black tie. Not a bowtie. A regular tie. What the heck was Drew (DarkD) smoking?! So now we're definitely dressed for the part - must say we all looked REAL good compared to many others.

Then it was time to walk over to the Rose Gardens. One of the wedding coordinators is our friend that we work with and she informed us that the floral designer was the same guy who designed Eva Longoria and Tony Parkers wedding!! And you can definitely see that Drew and Colin ([Fiance]) spent that money in these pictures.

The wedding was really touching. They had some family members come up and do some readings of poems about love and marriage. But it was a good length of time, so not boring, and it was just a beautiful setup. I wish their microphones were turned up a little higher though because I couldn't really hear them too well. But they made their vows and sealed them with a kiss. And we all clapped and were happy for them.

We were walked over to the Grand Californian Hotel and had some hors d'oeurves before we were let into the reception hall. Those appetizers were SO good. I ate it all and had seconds and thirds. I'm such a fat bitch....

After eating all that, we sat down at our table and they announced the entrance of the two grooms. It was dark but I tried to take some pictures. I think it actually turned out nicely because the light and the shadows on them in the picture makes it look cool. See for yourself.

Colin (left) and Drew (right)

The food was absolutely exquisite and scrumptious! They had mixed greens with a creamy balsamic vinegarette. And the main dish was a NY Strip Steak that was seasoned and cooked to perfection in a mustard Merlot sauce. Wow! After dinner, we of course got on the dance floor and partied it up. Drew and Colin came up to us and we all congratulated them. Drew gave me a big hug and told me that I looked good. THAT'S RIGHT I look good! Glad he acknowledged it. So I forgave him for all the douche-iness.

Bethany and me, having fun on the dance floor

It was a late wedding. The ceremony started at 7:30pm and so we didn't leave the reception until 12am. Exhausted and slightly drunk, Miles and N stayed over at my place and we all conked out real quick.

The next day, we lounged around my apartment for a good part of the morning and early afternoon. We finally decided to make use of our day around 3:00pm and head out to Disneyland for a fun day NOT working. We watched our friends in the parades and then went on a few rides. As we were waiting for the first parade, we saw Drew and Colin on the opposite side of the street and we yelled for them and waved hi. Drew runs across the street and starts talking to us. But Colin was apparently too good for us to attempt to cross the street. He stood on the other side with his snobby collar popped on his snobby baby blue polo shirt and his snobby bermuda shorts. Didn't even wave Hi to us. Just looked down at his Blackberry and attempted to look busy. Drew promised us that he'd call us after the parade, but guess what?... he never did.

I have a feeling that we've officially lost one of our good friends...
